His nose and lips are cut, and he has more small wounds on his neck. But he's fighting to survive. We fed him some milk from a bottle, so he at least has a warm belly. We wrapped him in towels, and put a fleece coat over him. He's warm and snug on his little bed.
But he is having trouble breathing, so he may not last the night. If he does make it, we'll be taking him to the vet tomorrow for antibiotics and anything else he needs.
He's a fighter to have made it this far. Hopefully, we'll be able to pair him back up with momma in a day or so.

You know I'm not a rancher, but my heart is there for all of you, for him.
ReplyDeleteCome on #165 we are pulling for you!
ReplyDeleteI hope the little guy makes it. Let us know what happens in the morning.
ReplyDeleteAwww, poor little thing. I really hope he makes it. Y'all have some incredible bucket calf sagas.

What a rough start to life! Hope tomorrow is better for #165...
ReplyDeleteThank you, everyone. I'll be back as soon as we know more. I hope it is good news.
ReplyDeletePretty awesome he fought off a coyote on his first day -- number 165. Or maybe mama stepped in and got hurt and wandered off to either get better, or not. Either way - you're right, nobody said ranching was for the timid.
ReplyDeleteThank you for taking care of the little guy.
